Pre-Determined Placement for a Student with Autism Overturned

A family in a well-established early intervention program contacted our firm because their school district decided that their son, diagnosed with Autism, could not remain in his preschool setting for an additional year. This decision was made outside of the IEP team against parent input; therefore, predetermining placement. Our special education advocate attended the IFSP/IEP meeting with the family to facilitate the discussion of the placement that would best meet the needs of the student. Once K Altman Law got involved, the school district withdrew their predetermination and agreed with to keep the student in early intervention preschool for an additional year.
