Melanie Roy

Special Education Advocate
B.A., M.Ed.

Melanie Roy is a dedicated special education advocate with over 10 years of experience supporting families through every stage of the special education process—from initial diagnosis to IEP and 504 meetings, mediations, and beyond. With a passion for neurodiversity and lifelong learning, Melanie takes a collaborative approach when working with school teams. She ensures that parents understand both the process and their rights, empowering them to participate meaningfully and make informed decisions to support their children.

Melanie earned her degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Early Childhood Education from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2013. She later completed a Master’s in Special Education at Lesley University in 2017 while working as a special educator in public school settings.

As an active member of COPAA, SPaN Mass, and a volunteer with the Federation for Children with Special Needs, Melanie brings a wealth of expertise to her work. Her advocacy spans a wide range of student needs, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, selective mutism, and social-emotional and neurological challenges.

Outside of her advocacy work, Melanie is a proud mom of three, an avid reader, and a novice gardener. What she finds most fulfilling in her work is witnessing the transformation in confidence that occurs when families learn how to advocate effectively for their children.
