Attorney Keith Altman of K Altman Law weighs in on the federal lawsuit against Maine over Title IX, calling it a clear case of federal preemption. Altman believes the conflict between Maine’s laws and federal Title IX standards could have national implications and may ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court.
Celebrating a recent success in special education advocacy! In a challenging case, a student faced obstacles with an alternative learning plan instead of a requested 504 plan, jeopardizing graduation. With quick action in April, a tailored 504 plan was secured, providing home-bound math instruction. Now, the student is on track to graduate, thanks to a dedicated team’s swift response and thoughtful design of the plan. This achievement not only ensures completion of senior year but also paves the way for continued support in college.
I had a consultation with The Law Office of Keith Altman and from the very first interaction to the consultation with the attorney I was blown away by the professionalism, kindness, and willingness to answer all my questions. Each person I interacted with was so kind and receptive to my situation. Further, the attorneys are tenacious, ready to defend you, and fight for your rights. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Amanda Stewart is an excellent listener and a true professional. My family and I faced difficult times due to an unfortunate event at school that led to an expulsion. Dr. Stewart was able to identify flaws in the school’s policies and the laws that were not properly followed. The outcome was exactly what I hoped for, and we are grateful for Dr. Stewart’s tenacity and thorough research.
