Introducing The Advocacy Circle: A Smarter Way to Navigate Special Education
The Advocacy Circle is officially live – and it represents a major step forward in how families access Special Education support.
For years, we have seen the same challenge play out across the country: parents are asked to navigate high-stakes IEP and 504 processes with limited guidance, inconsistent information, and little clarity on what to do next. The Advocacy Circle was built to change that reality by giving families a practical, structured, and affordable path to confident advocacy, without waiting for a crisis to become unmanageable.
At its core, The Advocacy Circle delivers a guided, step-by-step experience built around real-world school scenarios. Members gain access to action-focused tools, curated resources, and workflows designed to help them prepare, communicate, and document effectively, before, during, and after key school meetings. The platform also includes a learning management system (LMS) that organizes training into clear modules, so families can build capability over time rather than trying to learn everything at once.
A key differentiator is our AI-powered, jurisdiction-specific support tool, designed to help members generate and tailor advocacy communications with state-aware context and practical structure. This is paired with a membership community model, so families are not operating in isolation. Members can engage with a supportive network focused on shared learning, momentum, and accountability.
What makes The Advocacy Circle different is that it is grounded in the same strategic thinking and issue-spotting approach our team applies every day, translated into a member-first platform that emphasizes clarity, efficiency, and practical execution. It’s not a collection of generic templates. It’s a system designed to help families understand what to do, when to do it, and how to do it well

PROTECTING STUDENT RIGHTS WHEN IT MATTERS THE MOST
Persistence Pays Off: Student Reinstated After Academic Dismissal
A student was one semester away from completing their undergraduate degree and was academically dismissed. Our Student Defense team assisted them in preparing and submitting multiple appeals; however, the school initially denied each request for reinstatement.
We did not give up! Through persistent and strategic advocacy, we were able to contact the college’s attorney and secure a reversal of the school’s position. As a result, our client has been reinstated and is now able to return to school to complete their degree.
Special Education Advocacy
This month marked meaningful progress across both individual student support and broader advocacy efforts. A Behavior Intervention Plan was completed that exceeded parent expectations while aligning with IDEA best practices, alongside systemic improvements in staff training related to specific disabilities such as Tourette Syndrome, CVI, and ADA compliance. Annual IEP reviews remained strong, with well-developed plans supported by consistent progress monitoring. In addition, the launch of The Advocacy Circle Community on Facebook expanded support and connection for families, and preparation is underway for a caregiver-focused webinar centered on self-care and sustainability in advocacy.
Strategic Partnerships
K Altman Law continues to expand a national network of mission-aligned strategic partners- student advocates, special education service providers, clinicians, edtech, and education organizations – so families can access coordinated support that is practical, timely, and outcomes-oriented. In 2026, we’re prioritizing partnerships that improve the “handoff” between advocacy, services, and legal strategy while maintaining strict confidentiality and ethics compliance. If your organization supports students and families navigating discipline, IEP/504 disputes, or Title IX matters, we welcome a conversation about collaboration.

Serving More Families – and Moving More Matters to Resolution
In early January, K Altman Law (KAL) held its leadership retreat to close out 2025 and align the 2026 roadmap using EOS/Traction discipline (Vision → Plan → Rocks → Scorecard). We reviewed key wins – 21% growth year over year (YOY), 2,180 consultations (+45% YOY), and almost 400 new cases, and confirmed priorities to fix 2026 bottlenecks: conversion, capacity, and consistency. We also reviewed 2025 matters brought to resolution, reinforcing a disciplined, process-driven approach. For clients and partners, this means clearer workflows, faster follow-up, and more consistent execution and “white glove” service at scale.
College vs K-12 Disability Services
Navigating the shift from high school to college can be tough for students with disabilities. This session explored key differences in disability services, legal rights, and parental roles, and emphasized the importance of self-advocacy for success.

I had an issue with my daughter’s college and I reached out to the K Altman Law and received an immediate response. Silvia and Kathy were very kind and let me know exactly what I needed to provide. I paid for my consultation but new information came to light and I no longer needed Keith’s services. I jumped on the conference call to make the team aware and Keith was kind enough to fully refund my consultation fee along with give me a little advice and told me to call back at any time if needed. If the time ever comes K Altman Law will have my business.
